The Scrutiny Management Committee has launched a consultation on the governance arrangements for the States of Guernsey's investments.

The review comes following the creation of the States Investment Board, which brought significant changes to how the island's investments are supervised. The committee wants to ensure that political oversight and governance of these funds remains appropriate.

Government committees, bodies and other interested parties have been invited to submit evidence to [email protected] by Monday 1st June 2026. Public hearings may be held following the consultation to gain additional clarity on the evidence submitted.

The review panel has completed an initial desktop exercise assessing available information and is now ready to launch the formal consultation process.

Deputy Sloan said: "This is a review we have inherited from the previous Committee which we are determined to close out, because the governance of the States' investments, which are substantial public funds, is too important to leave unfinished."

He added: "There have been questions raised about whether the current arrangements provide the clarity, oversight and accountability they should. We are now seeking evidence as we move into the final stage of the review."

The committee has described the governance of the States' investments as an area of significant importance, given the substantial value of the public funds involved.

The consultation marks the final stage of the review process, which was initiated by the previous Scrutiny Management Committee.

Further information about the review, including terms of reference and an explanatory note, is available from the committee.
