Adult cycle training sessions delivered by Traffic & Highway Services' Bikeability instructors are returning for the summer, offering islanders the opportunity to build confidence and develop their cycling skills in a supportive setting.
The sessions will relaunch on the morning of Sunday 7 June, taking place every two weeks until the end of September. This aims to provide a regular opportunity for islanders to build confidence in their cycling skills over the summer period.
Sessions will include both Bikeability Adult and Cycle Confidence opportunities and are aimed at riders of varying experience – from those looking to improve their road confidence or reacquaint themselves with cycling to those starting from the basics.
Previous sessions have seen participants develop their skills gradually, often starting in a traffic-free environment before progressing at a pace that suits them.
The sessions form part of the ongoing work by Traffic & Highway Services to support and encourage more people to travel actively and feel comfortable cycling on the island's roads. More information and resources can be found at gov.gg/cycling.
Holly Lindsay, Transport Strategy Implementation Officer for Traffic & Highway Services, said: "Better Journeys Week may have come to an end for another year, but that doesn't mean the active travel habits stop. We are pleased to be relaunching Adult cycling training this summer to encourage those who may want to improve their road confidence. Last year, these one-to-one sessions helped support riders that had a range of cycling abilities and experience."
Those interested in signing up to the first Bikeability Adult session on the morning of Sunday 7 June, as well as subsequent sessions throughout the summer, are asked to fill out the application form.
