A new exhibition exploring the connection between art, nature and wellbeing has opened at Guernsey Museum & Art Gallery .

'Lost in Nature' will run in the Brian White Gallery at Candie until Sunday 5th July 2026, offering visitors an immersive experience through curated artworks, sound and film.

The exhibition has been inspired by the museum's partnership with the States of Guernsey's Health and Social Care (HSC) Arts and Health Programme, building on themes explored during the creation of The Corridor Gallery at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

Featuring nature-inspired artworks drawn from the museum's permanent collection, the exhibition is complemented by a bespoke soundscape created by local composer Flexagon and a video installation by Ross Yeates from SkyWave Media.

The combination of visual art, sound and film aims to provide visitors with an opportunity to pause and reconnect with the natural world.

A self-led wellbeing walking guide, created in collaboration with Guernsey Trees for Life, will also be available. The guide explores Candie Gardens and will be launched during Well-Geeking Week, which takes place from 25th to 29th May 2026.

Well-Geeking Week aims to showcase hobbies and pastimes that enhance wellbeing. Visitors during the week, which coincides with May half term, will have the chance to take part in additional activities for all ages. A full schedule of events will be released closer to the time on the museum's website and social media channels.

The week culminates in The Big Geekend on 30th and 31st May, a two-day celebration of quirky collections and unique interests.

Helen Glencross MBE, Head of Culture & Heritage Services, said: "In an ever-busy world, our latest exhibition 'Lost in Nature' offers a moment of calm and reflection. Through a beautifully curated selection of artworks from our collections and the natural landscapes they depict, the exhibition invites visitors to slow down, engage and enjoy the restorative power of the natural world through sight, sound and film."

She added: "We are very pleased to have partnered with the Health and Social Care (HSC) Arts and Health Programme, and it is fantastic to see how this collaboration has inspired an exhibition that is not only visually compelling but also offers a positive and enriching experience."

Sophie Brehaut, Assistant Curator at Guernsey Museums, said: "'Lost in Nature' was inspired by our recent partnership with the HSC Arts & Health Programme which has encouraged us to think more deeply about how our collections can support community wellbeing. The artworks on display come from our permanent collections and are inclusively curated alongside sound and video allowing the gallery to become a space that can be shaped by how visitors choose to experience it."

She continued: "Whether as a calm space for quiet reflection, a welcoming place to meet a friend or somewhere to discover something new about our islands' rich artistic heritage, 'Lost in Nature' invites you to slow down and reconnect with the natural world through the transportive power of art."

Entry to the exhibition is free with a Discovery Pass. The Brian White Gallery is located at Guernsey Museum & Art Gallery in Candie Gardens.
