Young people invited to showcase creativity in Rotary competitions
- Rotary Club of Guernsey launches Young Artist and Young Photographer competitions for under-18s

Young people across Guernsey are being invited to showcase their creativity by entering this year's Rotary Young Artist and Rotary Young Photographer competitions, inspired by the theme of 'Friendship'.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Guernsey, the competitions are open to anyone aged 17 or under on 31 August 2026 and provide an opportunity for young people to express their ideas through art or photography while developing their creative skills.
Whether creating a painting, drawing, collage or digital artwork, or capturing a striking photograph using a camera or smartphone, entrants are invited to interpret the 2026-27 theme in their own unique way.
The competitions are divided into three age categories: junior, for those up to and including 10 years; intermediate, for 11 to 13-year-olds; and senior, for 14 to 17-year-olds.
Rotary Guernsey is working with the Guernsey Arts Commission to display every entry in a public exhibition at the George Crossan Studio in the Market Building from 1 October to 10 November 2026, giving family, friends and the wider community the opportunity to celebrate the creativity of Guernsey's young people.
Winners in each age category of both competitions will receive a special experience prize, details of which will be announced shortly. Winning entries will represent Guernsey in the Rotary District judging, with District winners progressing to the national finals.
Julie Bulpitt, coordinating the competitions for Rotary Guernsey, said: "We know there are so many talented young people in Guernsey, and these competitions are a wonderful opportunity for them to showcase their creativity. The theme of 'Friendship' offers endless possibilities, and we're looking forward to seeing the many different ways young people interpret the theme through art and photography."
She added: "Whether someone already enjoys art or photography or simply wants to have a go, we'd encourage them to enter. We hope families, schools and youth organisations across the Island will help us spread the word so that as many young people as possible can take part."

The closing date for entries is Tuesday 1 September 2026. Parents, carers, schools and youth organisations are encouraged to share details of the competitions with young people who may enjoy taking part.
The Rotary Club of Guernsey has been serving Guernsey and the wider community since 1922. The club currently has more than 70 members and meets on Wednesdays from 12.30pm to 2pm at the Hotel de Havelet.
