Two month income tax deadline extension

Two month income tax deadline extension
  • The deadline for submitting 2024 tax returns has been extended to 31st January 2026.
  • This decision follows issues with online access to the Revenue Service system.
  • Additional support will be provided at Edward T. Wheadon House for online registration and submission.

Due to intermittent issues with access to the Revenue Service system, the deadline for submitting 2024 tax returns has been extended to 31st January 2026.

The change was announced just days before the expected deadline, 30 November, was up.

“Extending the deadline ensures that everyone has enough time to submit their returns," said Nig Garland, Acting Director of Revenue Service.

“However, while the deadline has been extended, customers are encouraged to file as early as possible to help reduce pressure on the system and support a smoother flow of processing and assistance.”

To further assist customers, the Revenue Service plans to offer additional support this week at Edward T. Wheadon House, where assistance with online registration and submission will be available.

Online submissions are said to be less prone to errors and speed up processing through automated risk assessment.
