The Weekly Briefing from The Quarry

From the editor's desk

We're working on plans to improve our engagement with the community. It's central to our vision as a small, independent newsroom.

We want our audience to inform our coverage, to move away from a system where it's the news outlet alone dictating what is and isn't worth covering and what questions to ask.

There will be more on how we will listen to come, but as part of that process tomorrow we have a couple of presentations planned at The Digital Greenhouse where we will outline more about The Quarry, where we've got to and where we want to take it. We'd love to see as many faces as possible so please sign up for the 12.30pm here, or the 5.30pm here.

Our Dig Deeper investigation this week, available to paid subscriber and members, tracks the States' electronic patients record project, what was promised all the way back in 2020 when deputies were rushed into voting through up to £20m. for a replacement and what has happened since. In short, delays and budget increases and a health service still reliant on an outdated system.

As always, if you like what we’re doing and setting out to achieve with The Quarry, please spread the word among your friends, family and colleagues. We want to make this a real community effort and can only do that with your help!
