The Weekly Briefing from The Quarry

A message from the editor

We're a little delayed with this week's newsletter, but I wanted to hold off for the results of today's P&R President election.

Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez secured a resounding endorsement from her fellow States members to secure the role in the first round of voting. Everything feels very different from those divisive early days of 2020. She has set out her vision for this term which is built around connections, both within and outside the States, and pinpointed some key policy areas that need to be progressed, please read more on our site.

Towards the end of last week we also published a tool so anyone could have a go at building their perfect States, assigning deputies and Alderney reps to different roles. It's quite a task when you give it a go from the comfort of your own office or home, let alone being in the chamber. Get those choices locked in and see how closely you compare to reality!

Soon you'll be able to watch or listen to some great pods we recorded today, this time we've shifted our focus to charity and the Island Games, they'll be early access to those for our members. And we'll have a special report on the economic opportunities presented by digital innovation.

As always, if you like what we’re doing and setting out to achieve with The Quarry, please spread the word among your friends, family and colleagues. We want to make this a real community effort and can only do that with your help!

Nick
