  • The States has signed an agreement with JT for IT hosting and infrastructure support.
  • The contract is effective from August, following the termination of the previous agreement with Agilisys.
  • The initial contract is for two years, with an option for a two-year extension, totalling approximately £4.8 million annually.
  • Benefits of the new model are said to include increased accountability, access to specialised expertise, and improved resilience.

The States has entered into a new agreement with JT, which will provide hosting, network, and infrastructure support for the government’s IT services starting from 1st August.

This contract follows the decision to terminate the existing agreement with Agilisys and is part of the government’s strategy to improve service delivery by engaging multiple providers instead of relying solely on one.

With JT already operating as a subcontractor for Agilisys, the new direct contract signifies both a continuity of service and an expansion that includes infrastructure support. JT will facilitate connectivity to devices, internet access, and secure data storage. The firm, which has established a presence in Guernsey for over two decades, is tasked with maintaining critical infrastructure such as servers, routers, and switches necessary for the IT systems of the States.

The initial contractual term is set for a minimum of two years, with the potential for a two-year extension. The annual budget for this part of the IT provision is approximately £4.8 million.

Gé Drossaert, Chief Digital and Information Officer of the States, said: “Our move to a new multi-vendor model for the delivery of IT services is now taking shape... One of the many benefits we believe a multi-vendor model brings is service provider accountability to deliver the agreed provision. We’re confident in how the future is looking for our IT services.”

Similarly, Kate Marshall, Head of Guernsey Enterprise at JT, said: “We’re very proud to continue supporting the States of Guernsey as a trusted technology partner...We look forward to collaborating with other providers in this multi-vendor approach to help shape a connected, future-ready Bailiwick of Guernsey.”

The termination of the existing agreement with Agilisys will occur by midnight on 31st July, and the States anticipates several advantages with the new multi-vendor model. These include improved vendor selection for specific services, increased accountability, easier access to specialised expertise, enhanced resilience against service disruptions, and an overall improvement in IT services for users.
