The Social Investment Fund has announced the opening of its Small Grants Programme, inviting applications aimed at benefiting charities and non-profit organisations that serve residents within the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
This marks the second round of grant applications for 2025, with an emphasis on supporting projects linked to sports, arts, and culture.
While priority will be given to these areas, submissions from other domains will also be accepted.
Since the initiation of the Small Grants Programme in 2021, SIF has allocated funding to a total of 118 grants, amounting to over £1.2 million.
The programme is designed to assist registered charities and non-profit organisations that provide essential services to the local community, focusing on improving the lives of individuals in need.
Organisations can submit applications for grants of up to £15,000 to fund one-off projects, cover specific capital expenses, or support operational costs over a maximum duration of one year.
Consideration will be granted for salary costs within designated projects, as well as other salary-related expenses under exceptional circumstances, again for no longer than one year.
Applications must align with at least one of the following objectives:
- Enhancing the lives of individuals with specific needs or vulnerabilities.
- Creating job, education, or training opportunities.
- Protecting the environment, culture, and heritage.
- Promoting improved health and wellbeing for the community.
- Fostering an inclusive society that addresses barriers related to disadvantage or discrimination.
In the first round of Small Grants for 2025, 15 charities received a total of £147,829 for various causes, including Guernsey Arthritis Care, which was granted £7,700 for specialist exercise sessions; Guernsey Botanical Trust LBG, awarded £5,161 for educational equipment; and Guernsey Caring for Ex-Offenders, which received £6,371 for kitchen courses.
The programme has also extended its benefits to organisations on Sark and Alderney, including a £10,000 grant to the Parish Church of St Anne, Alderney, for community food support, and £6,975 awarded to the Alderney Football Association for coach training.
Tim Barker, Chair of the Social Investment Fund, said: “For the first time, SIF has decided to have a focused round of grants, and will be prioritising applications relating to sports, arts, and culture.
"These sectors all play an important part in supporting both the physical and mental health and wellbeing of our local community. We particularly encourage applications from these fields.”
Prospective applicants are encouraged to carefully review the guidelines before submitting their applications online via SIF’s grant application portal.
