Second Channel Islands Contemporary Art Show to open in Guernsey

A major contemporary art exhibition featuring 17 artists from the Channel Islands, Brittany and the UK will open at the Art for Guernsey Gallery next month.
The Channel Islands Contemporary Art Show, running from 11 September to 7 November, is the second edition of a collaboration between ArtHouse Jersey and Art for Guernsey, produced in association with Passerelle Centre d'Art Contemporain in Brest, Brittany.
The exhibition brings together sculpture, painting, photography and digital art, offering perspectives on island life, community and connection. Following a successful first showing at ArtHouse Jersey at Capital House, the collection will be displayed at the Mansell Street gallery in St Peter Port.
The participating artists draw on personal experience and place, responding to the unique landscapes and cultural histories of the Channel Islands.
The showcase features work by Charlie Buchanan, Ruby Butler, Hayley Gibaut, Vincent Girard, Helen Glencross, Victor Guerin, Gabrielle Herveet, Emilie Knight, Malgorzata Krzysztofik, Louise London, Vincent Malassis, Charlie Mcfarley, Toby Rainbird, Nicole Sheppard, India Silvester, Bridget Spinney and Iwan Warnet.
Jock Pettitt, curation director of Art for Guernsey, said the exhibition represents the islands' visual environment, culture and heritage through diverse artistic approaches.
"From bold abstract works, to more literal paintings and photography, from 3D installations to digital, it promises to be an engaging and thought provoking experience that is as mentally stimulating as it is visually," he said.
"You know when an exhibition presents challenges to install that it's going to bring something quite different for the viewer too. We look forward to welcoming the public to explore when the doors open in September."
The exhibition builds on the inaugural joint show held in 2024, which marked the first collaboration between the two Channel Islands arts organisations. The partnership aims to celebrate creativity across borders and showcase the vibrant artistic voices shaping the region.
The Channel Islands Contemporary Art Show will run at the Art for Guernsey Gallery, Mansell Street, St Peter Port, from Friday 11 September to Saturday 7 November.
