Red Arrows to open Guernsey Air Display in September

The Red Arrows will open this year's Guernsey Air Display when the event returns to St Peter Port on Wednesday 9 September.
The RAF has confirmed the elite aerobatic team will perform at the evening display, which runs from 6.30pm to 8pm, following the success of last year's twilight event.
The iconic red jets had been stranded in Canada last week due to poor weather, meaning their return to the UK was delayed following a tour of the United States and some shows cancelled as a result.
They are, however, expected to cross the Atlantic today.
The Hawk T1 jets are only able to fly 750 miles, so they cannot fly to their destination, RAF Waddington, direct.
The Red Arrows will be joined in Guernsey by the Dakota from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the BAC Jet Provost, a British jet trainer aircraft.
The Jet Provost is one of two display teams returning to Guernsey after a couple of years' absence. The other, Team Raven, is a six-ship civilian formation aerobatic display team based in Wales, featuring homebuilt aircraft equipped with white smoke systems.
Returning favourites include the Hurricane, owned by local resident James Brown, and the Airborne Pyrotechnics, which will conclude the 2026 display.
Barry Neal, Flying Display Director, said: 'A key part of our planning is receiving confirmation of the military assets each year, which in turn allows us to finalise the full line-up. The Reds and BBMF are stalwarts of the display, and a highlight for many.'
He added: 'Moving the display to the evening enabled us to also include a pyro display team which has been well received. The Airborne Pyrotechnics were effective last year, and we are really excited to welcome them back for another twilight spectacle.'
The event will feature an expanded food and drink village on Crown Pier, building on the positive reception from last year's inaugural evening display.
Natalie Davidson, Event Organiser at Black Vanilla, said: 'The reception we received last year for the evening display and for the food and drink village on Crown Pier was amazing. We're really excited to welcome islanders and visitors back to Crown Pier for a second year. This year, the food and drink village will be on a bigger scale, giving people the chance to enjoy fantastic local food and drink whilst watching the display over St Peter Port Harbour.'
The Guernsey Air Display relies on support from the local business community, with sponsorship packages available ranging from £750 to £3,450. Individuals can also support the event by becoming a Friend of the Guernsey Air Display for £17.50, which includes a 2026 pin badge and other benefits.
