Parkinson's Guernsey is celebrating six years of supporting people affected by Parkinson's in the Bailiwick with a special anniversary event featuring two senior representatives from Cure Parkinson's.

The event will take place on Thursday 8 October 2026 at The Peninsula's Grand Havre Suite, combining a celebration of the local charity's sixth anniversary with an opportunity for the community to hear about the latest work being carried out in the search for a cure.

Helen Matthews, CEO of Cure Parkinson's, and Sophie Priestley, Head of Philanthropy at Cure Parkinson's, will give a special talk from 10.40am to 11.40am explaining the charity's focused work to slow, stop or reverse Parkinson's.

The presentation will discuss the challenges involved in trying to cure Parkinson's, give an overview of Cure Parkinson's current portfolio of work, and outline the charity's ambitions for the coming year and beyond. Cure Parkinson's is the only UK charity solely dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's.

The event will also provide an opportunity for Parkinson's Guernsey members, friends, supporters and members of the wider community to come together, catch up and celebrate the charity's six years of work.

Doors will open at 10.00am with refreshments served before the talk begins. The event runs until 12.30pm.

The talk is free to attend and open to all, however booking is essential to help organisers manage numbers. Places can be reserved via Eventbrite.

Parkinson's Guernsey aims to provide support and information to all those affected by Parkinson's to live life to the full and to live well. The charity also works to raise awareness about Parkinson's within the Bailiwick.

The local charity offers a supportive community for those who understand the challenges and realities of Parkinson's, along with access to all Parkinson's classes free of charge, specifically designed to support mobility, strength, confidence, wellbeing and social interactions.

Parkinson's Guernsey also provides access to community classes, educational talks, walk-in clinics and a nail service. Members receive a monthly newsletter to keep up to date with the life of the community.

The charity operates a wheelchair-accessible transport service on Mondays and Thursdays to help members access its services.
