Outline planning application submitted for Saltpans transport and utilities infrastructure

- The application will support the development of new homes on the Saltpans site.
- Key infrastructure includes roads, pavements, cycle lanes, and bus stops.
- Community engagement included drop-in sessions attended by over 100 residents.
- The site is expected to be designated for housing in the future Island Development Plan.
The Policy & Resources Committee has submitted an outline planning application for essential transport and utilities infrastructure at the Saltpans site, formerly the Data Park.
This initiative seeks to facilitate the development of new homes in the area and contribute to the broader regeneration efforts in the Bridge locality. The application will cover the construction of necessary infrastructure, which encompasses a primary and secondary road, pavements, cycle lanes, bus stops, as well as drainage and utilities systems.
While the application includes illustrative examples highlighting potential environmental enhancements and community benefits, these aspects are not part of the current proposal and will be evaluated in subsequent stages of development.
In April, the Committee conducted community drop-in sessions, with more than 100 attendees engaging in discussions about improvements in connectivity, regeneration of the Bridge, and enhancements to surrounding junctions. The feedback received during these sessions has been integral to the development of the current proposals.
The Saltpans site is anticipated to be reallocated as a housing site in alignment with the ongoing review of the Island Development Plan (IDP). This review is scheduled to be considered by the new States next year.
