GradRoutes Guernsey is hosting an online webinar to address housing concerns raised by graduates and university students who are considering returning to the island after their studies.
The webinar follows a 'Return to Guernsey' survey which found that 38.2% of respondents listed housing costs and availability as a factor influencing their decision not to return to Guernsey.
Deputy Sasha Kazantseva-Miller, President for Economic Development, and Deputy Steve Williams, President of Housing, will feature on the webinar to discuss these concerns. The Deputies will open the session by outlining their vision for the future of housing and young people in the Bailiwick.
Michelle Morley, Project Lead for GradRoutes Guernsey, said: "We heard from over 200 graduates and university students about their opinions on moving back to Guernsey. The perception of limited career opportunities, the desire to experience living off-island, and a lack of social opportunities were just a few of the answers we received."
Ms Morley added: "GradRoutes Guernsey has a lot of work to do to debunk some of the misconceptions surrounding career paths in Guernsey, however this webinar will focus on one of the other main concerns raised in the survey: the cost and availability of housing."
The survey revealed multiple factors influencing graduates' decisions about returning to the island, with housing emerging as a significant concern alongside career opportunities and social life.
Ms Morley said: "We encourage all graduates or current university students to tune in to the online webinar either just to listen or to pose any questions you may have to the Deputies regarding this topic."
The webinar will take place at 6pm on Tuesday 19th May. Graduates and current university students can register to attend through Eventbrite.
