Mr Anthony Griffin has been appointed as the new headteacher of St Anne's School in Alderney, starting in September 2026, the Education Office has announced.

Mr Griffin began his career at an academy in Cheltenham before he spent time teaching abroad in South Korea and Japan. In 2018, he moved to Jersey, where he worked as an English teacher before progressing to the role of Assistant Head. During his time in Jersey, he developed a keen interest in Channel Islands history whilst exploring the island.

"I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to serve at St Anne's School. I am very excited to get started and to play my part in ensuring the children of Alderney receive the education they deserve. It is a very special school, and I'm delighted to join the community," said Mr Griffin.

Ian Carter, Chair of the Board of St Anne's School, welcomed the appointment, highlighting Mr Griffin's qualities and experience.

Nick Hynes, Director of Education, expressed confidence in the new appointment and the benefits Mr Griffin's experience will bring to the school community.

Mr Griffin will take up his position at the start of the new academic year in September 2026.
