  • The installation is set for 12th and 13th February.
  • Closure of sections of roads leading into the junction will occur during the work.
  • Cyclists can navigate through the area with caution.
  • The initiative follows community feedback aimed at improving visibility and reducing accidents.

A new traffic filter will be installed at the junction of Barras Lane, Pleinheaume Road, and Pleinheaume Lane.

This initiative aims to address concerns raised about limited visibility for motorists exiting Les Barras Lane and Pleinheaume Lane.

Feedback from local residents indicating high volumes of traffic related to businesses in the vicinity, alongside reported road collisions and near misses at the junction, prompted the decision to implement the filter.

The installation is scheduled between 12th to 13th February 2026, during which the relevant sections of roads leading into the junction will be closed to all motorised vehicles. Cyclists will still be able to pass through the works, provided they do so with caution and adhere to dismount signs.

Paul James, Traffic and Highway Services Road Safety Officer, noted, "This latest filter installation is part of Traffic & Highways’ commitment to improving not only the island’s general transport infrastructure, but, crucially, to improve safety for the whole community – in line with the Integrated Transport Strategy.

"Filters, where appropriate, can be an excellent way to improve traffic flow within a busy junction, and this new installation will improve safety for all road users of the area, with the aim of reducing further chances of accidents and near misses."
