  • A new website for Guernsey’s parliament is live
  • It aims to separate parliamentary information from government details.
  • It provides enhanced navigation and search functionalities.
  • Further integration of electronic voting features is planned.

A new website, www.parliament.gg, has been launched to publish information and updates related to Guernsey’s parliament.

This initiative aims to create a distinct online presence for the States of Deliberation, which includes 38 elected People’s Deputies and two Alderney representatives, separate from the government’s website.

Policy & Resources Committee asked for the site to be built to align with the States' broader goal of establishing a dedicated parliamentary function.

The new site has improved access for States Members to conduct research. The design promotes easier navigation and searching for previous proposals and decisions made by the Assembly. The site also seeks to enhance community understanding of parliamentary processes through informative explanations and a glossary of terms.

The site has information about the responsibilities of the States of Deliberation as well as the committees and public services.

The next step will focus on integrating the States Electronic Voting system to allow the community to view voting results and individual member votes.

Simon Ross, States Greffier, said, “This is an important development for Guernsey’s Parliament. Its launch has been timed to coincide with the election and it will be a key tool for States Members as they undertake the work of this States’ term. It will also be the chief resource for the public to inform themselves of what is happening in their parliament.”

Boley Smillie, States Chief Executive & Head of the Public Service, said: “The development and delivery of a new website with as much content as parliament.gg is a significant undertaking and our team have delivered a quality product. This site gives the community access to clear information about the work of the Assembly, including the introduction of real-time updates as decisions are made during States debates.”
