RJ Verity, a Guernsey-based author, will host a public book signing for her debut historical novel, Poole of Light, on Saturday 20 September, from 2–4 pm at Writer’s Block in Guernsey.

This signing commemorates the release of Verity's first novel, which is the inaugural entry in The Poole Legacy trilogy but can also be enjoyed as a standalone work.

Poole of Light follows the story of Jeremiah “Jem” Poole, a boy from a northern English mining town whose life is transformed upon witnessing moving pictures for the first time.

The narrative spans from 1913 through the Second World War, exploring Jem's journey through conflict, personal reinvention, and the evolution of British cinema. The novel delves into significant themes of identity, memory, and the narratives that shape human experience.

RJ Verity remarked, “It’s a huge honour to mark the release of my first novel here in Guernsey. Poole of Light is a story about resilience and reinvention – themes I hope will resonate with readers locally and beyond.”

The novel is set for release in both paperback and eBook formats from 16 September 2025 and can be ordered online via Amazon at https://mybook.to/poole-of-light.
