La Grande Mare Country Club is advancing towards completion, with the steel frame of the structure nearing finalisation.

The construction is part of a significant transformation project, which includes extensive groundworks and service installations for the gym, a 25-metre swimming pool, a restaurant, function rooms, and the golf club itself.

La Grande Mare: First step complete in building a lasting world-class sporting and hospitality legacy for Guernsey

Fay Boyd, Operations Manager at the La Grande Mare Golf Performance Centre, stated, “As islanders will have seen, the framework for the country club has been erected, and it’s fantastic to see a glimpse of what the building will look like once complete.

“It’s a complex project with all the groundworks and services required for the gym, 25-metre swimming pool, restaurant, function rooms and the golf club, but it is going well.”

The team plans to begin operations to make the structure wind and water tight.

While this work is ongoing, the next significant milestone for the project will be the opening of the golf course, anticipated for August 2026.

“While the work on the course has finished, the vastness of the remodelling means that the whole course has to settle and the greens and fairways have to be well-established. We will be making further announcements on the course as we move closer to the scheduled opening.”

She said that the launch of the Golf Performance Centre on 1st November has notably increased public interest in the sport.

“The response from former members, neighbours and the wider community has exceeded our expectations.”

In response to this demand, the centre is currently developing new initiatives aimed at helping golfers enhance their skills during the winter months, preparing them for the upcoming season.
