James Way appointed as Guernsey Harbour Master

Guernsey Ports has announced the appointment of James Way as the new Harbour Master.
Mr Way also assumes the responsibilities of Head of Guernsey Coastguard and Registrar of British Ships.
“It is an honour to be appointed as Harbour Master and to serve my Island home. Guernsey’s harbours are at the heart of our community and our economy, and I am committed to ensuring they remain safe, efficient, and future-ready,” he said.
He emphasised his commitment to ensuring safety and security for people and vessels navigating Guernsey’s waters.
Mr Way attended La Houguette Primary School and the Grammar School before obtaining a degree from the University of York.
He has a career that includes serving as a Warfare Officer in the Royal Navy and working as a Maritime Operations Controller at His Majesty’s Coastguard.
His association with Guernsey Ports spans over two decades, having initially worked as a Seasonal Marina Attendant. In 2018, he returned to Guernsey Ports as an Assistant Harbour Master, later becoming Head of Port Operations.
Guernsey Ports expressed gratitude towards Jermoe Davis, who retires from the position after 11 years of service due to ill health.
