Islanders invited to provide final feedback on plan that will guide what can be built where
  • Islanders are asked to submit final representations regarding amendments to the Island Development Plan.
  • Feedback is limited to previous comments, responses from the Development & Planning Authority, and revised proposals.
  • The final consultation period closes on 13 October at 5pm.
  • A public hearing will follow the consultation, leading to a report from an independent inspector.
  • The final amendments to the IDP will be determined by the States.

Island residents are encouraged to provide their final feedback on proposed changes to the Island Development Plan.

This marks the last opportunity for public input at this stage, focusing solely on the previously submitted comments, the responses from the Development & Planning Authority, and any revised proposals.

No new issues may be raised.

DPA’s proposals include new sites for affordable housing.

All proposed changes and public comments so far can be reviewed at gov.gg/IDPReview.

Following the conclusion of the feedback period, a public hearing will be conducted.

An independent inspector will then produce a report with recommendations for the DPA, who will decide whether to propose further amendments to the IDP based on the inspector's findings and public comments.

Ultimately, it is the States that will finalise any amendments to the IDP.

Deputy Yvonne Burford, President of the DPA, said: “We’re keen to press ahead with the focused review of the IDP as soon as possible to ensure that there is enough land allocated for the development of private housing, affordable housing and businesses.”

She acknowledged the importance of public input, stating: “Successfully reviewing the IDP depends on the input of islanders, and so we very much welcome their comments during this next stage of the process.”

Keith Holland, Independent Planning Inspector, said: “This is the final opportunity to engage before we reach the Inquiry hearing sessions.”

He urged residents to consider previous feedback carefully and participate in this final consultation, reflecting on the revisions proposed by the DPA in response to earlier comments.

He added, “I appreciate many islanders have already invested a considerable amount of time and effort in sharing their views to date, which has proved most informative.”

Residents can submit their final feedback at gov.gg/IDPReview before the deadline of 5pm on 13 October.

Feedback can also be submitted via paper forms available from both the website and at Edward T. Wheadon House, Le Truchot.

For assistance with the submission process, islanders may contact the Planning Inquiry team at 01481 223441 or email Planning.Inquiries@gov.gg.
