  • The average score for the cohort is 35 points, exceeding the worldwide average.
  • Two students achieved top scores of 42 and 43 points and secured places at The University of Cambridge.
  • 85 A Level students participated in IB subject certificates in various subjects.
  • Principal Kieran James and Director of Education Nick Hynes commend the students and staff for their hard work.

The Sixth Form Centre has announced the results of its eleventh group of International Baccalaureate Diploma students.

Achieving an 100% pass rate, all 17 students who undertook the full IB Diploma successfully completed their studies, attaining an average total point score of 35.

This score is higher than the 2024 worldwide average of 30.3. The average individual subject grade for the cohort was recorded at 5.5, which surpasses the 2024 global average of 4.6.

Two students stood out in this year’s results, earning scores of 42 and 43 out of 45 points. These results are equivalent to obtaining four or more A* grades at A Level.

Both have been accepted at The University of Cambridge. Additionally, one student from the cohort received the 2025 Undergraduate Scholarship to study at Brock University in Canada.

The results indicate that 35% of this year’s cohort scored 38 points or higher, while 82% attained 30 points or above, and 100% scored at least 24 points.

Furthermore, an additional 85 A Level students undertook IB subject certificates in Psychology, Digital Society, Film, or Spanish alongside their A Level subjects. The results for these subjects will be released in August.

Kieran James, Principal of The Sixth Form Centre, said: “Our IB Diploma results this year are amongst our best ever, and significantly higher than the global average.”

Nick Hynes, Director of Education, added: “Congratulations to all students who took the full IB Diploma or IB certificates. This is a very impressive set of results and a credit to both students and staff at the Sixth Form Centre.”

In April, Education, Sport & Culture paused the post-16 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at the Sixth Form Centre for the 2025/26 academic year because of a low number of only 14 students signing up to take part.

The International Baccalaureate, established in Geneva in 1968, began as a non-profit educational foundation aimed at providing a common pre-university curriculum and examinations for students worldwide.

Originally catering to internationally mobile students, the programme has evolved into a comprehensive framework serving students aged 3 to 19.

Now, over 750,000 students in 132 countries participate in the IB Diploma Programme, with more than half of IB World Schools being public institutions.
