Guernsey Water has introduced a range of new self-service features to its MyCesspit Portal as the online platform approaches its second anniversary.

From today, registered users can cancel specific collections or periods of collections, remove cancellation periods that have not yet started, and amend cancellation periods already underway. The service is not available for shared cesspits through the portal, but these customers can make cancellations by telephone.

Additional features include automated email confirmations when services are requested and the ability to report a missed collection after 7pm on the scheduled collection day.

The new functions have been introduced following analysis of the most common enquiries received by Guernsey Water's Customer Services Team, enabling customers to manage their accounts quickly and conveniently online without needing to telephone.

Guernsey Water Customer Services Manager Tania Sargent said: "The MyCesspit Portal continues to evolve in response to customer feedback. By adding these new features, we're making it easier than ever for customers to manage their cesspit collections at a time and place that suits them. The portal has a wide range of features and is completely free to register and use."

Since launching almost two years ago, the portal has attracted approximately half of all cesspit customers to register. Existing features allow users to view upcoming collection dates and receive email notifications confirming when collections have been completed.

The portal provides cesspit collection information directly to customers, giving them greater control and flexibility over the service.

Registration is free and takes only a few moments. Customers can sign up or log in via the MyCesspit Portal at https://mycesspit.water.gg/.

Whilst many services are now available online, emergency collection requests will continue to be handled by telephone. How-to guides are available at https://water.gg/wastewater/cesspit-portal-how-to-guides/.

Guernsey Water's emergency collection service remains available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on 01481 229500.

Guernsey Water is the island's only water company, overseeing the collection, storage, treatment and distribution of potable water to over 25,000 homes and businesses, as well as the collection and safe disposal of all the island's wastewater. The company currently oversees more than 100 facilities and is wholly owned by the States of Guernsey.
