Guernsey Ports has announced the appointment of Richard Thomasson as the new Airport Director.
Thomasson brings extensive experience in the aviation sector, having held senior positions for the past 18 years.
He previously served as Airport Operations Manager and Airport Director at Cornwall Airport Newquay, followed by a position as Head of Customer Operations at Bristol Airport, which he held since August 2020.
The new Airport Director position partially replaces the Chief Operating Officer role, previously held by Ross Coppolo, who became Managing Director last year.
Coppolo said: “Richard is a highly-qualified and well respected aviation professional, who has excelled in senior operational roles at Bristol Airport and Cornwall Airport Newquay. His experience, knowledge and enthusiasm will be an asset to Guernsey Ports as we strive for continuous improvement across Guernsey and Alderney Airports.”
Thomasson said: “I am excited to take up this opportunity as the Bailiwick of Guernsey’s Airport Director. It was clear through the interview process that my vast previous aviation experience would be a great fit for this role. I cannot wait to get started working in partnership with the Ports team and wider business partners.”
He said that his absolute focus is to put the customer experience at the heart beat of our strategy ‘whilst ensuring we take full advantage of the airport’s capability to maximise the benefits for the local economy and its community.”
