- Emergency works on Perelle seawall planned for next week.
- Recent high tides and winds caused damage to coping stones.
- Repairs to take place from 15th to 19th December.
- Temporary traffic lights will be installed on Route de la Perelle.
- Rue de la Maladerie will be closed on 19th December for a drainage survey.
Emergency works will be carried out on Perelle seawall due to damage caused by recent high tides and winds.
The coping stones have become loose and displaced, needing immediate repairs.
The works are scheduled from Monday, 15th December, to Friday, 19th December, and will require temporary traffic controls, including lights on Route de la Perelle.
While traffic will not be permitted to exit onto the main road from La Biloterie Road, vehicles will still be allowed to enter the main road.
In addition, Rue de la Maladerie will be closed on Friday, 19th December. This closure is to accommodate a CCTV drainage survey being conducted by Guernsey Water.
Marco Tersigni, Infrastructure Officer, said: “Remedial repairs are often required this time of year given the battering that our sea defences and coastal features experience. It’s important that we act quickly to address this as soon as possible to avoid further damage in stormy weather.”
