An electric van hire service has expanded to a new location on the Bridge, following a partnership between Guernsey Electricity, Guernsey Post and EVie.
The new hire point, situated outside Electricity House on Northside, adds to the existing fleet launched by Guernsey Post and EVie in 2023.
Shaun Prinsloo, Head of Commercial at Guernsey Electricity, said: "We're delighted to be working with EVie and Guernsey Post to make electric van hire simpler and more convenient for islanders.
"We're driving forward Guernsey's push for cleaner transport, and the location also offers a cost-effective and low-carbon delivery option for customers using our retail store.
"We have the largest selection of home electrical products in stock on the island so you can get your purchase from our store to your door, today."
The new location provides customers of Guernsey Electricity's retail store with the option to transport purchases using the electric van service, offering same-day delivery capabilities.
Nick Perchard-Rees, CEO and Director at EVie, said: "This partnership with Guernsey Electricity marks another important step forward for Evie, making it even more convenient for Guernsey Electricity customers and those living or working nearby to access an electric van when they need one.
"Across our growing Guernsey fleet, customers can choose from electric vans and cars, with our first multi-seater launching soon - providing greater choice without the cost or commitment of ownership. This is a significant step in Evie's expansion across the island, with even more exciting news to come."
Since the initial launch in 2023, the EVie service has facilitated more than 4,500 low-carbon journeys across the island. The hourly hire model allows islanders to access electric vans for tasks including house moves, deliveries and trips to recycling centres.
Niall McSwiggan, Chief Finance Officer at Guernsey Post, said: "Our partnership with EVie has helped islanders make over 4,500 low-carbon journeys since 2023.
"Hourly electric van hire service makes it easier for islanders to choose electric for those bigger, everyday jobs - whether that's moving house, making deliveries or a trip to the recycling centre.
"This new location offers another option for customers, helps reduce emissions and supports the Island's journey towards a cleaner, more sustainable transport system."
Islanders can access the service by downloading the EVie app and registering their details to book a hire slot. Registration typically takes less than two hours to complete. New users can apply the code GEL2026 to receive £10 off their first booking.
The expansion forms part of broader efforts to encourage the adoption of electric transport across Guernsey, with EVie planning further developments to its fleet in the coming months.
