Deputy Jayne Ozanne has stepped down from her role on Education, Sport & Culture due to personal reasons.
Committee President, Deputy Paul Montague, has stated that Deputy Ozanne was a valued member of the committee and her absence will be felt.
Deputy Ozanne said: “Sadly I feel that I must, for personal reasons, step down from the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture at the earliest opportunity.
“The last two months have been particularly difficult for me.”
She explained that she needs to focus on sorting matters related to her late mother’s estate and to take time for grieving.
Deputy Ozanne expressed her appreciation for her time on the committee, stating it has been a privilege to work with her colleagues under Deputy Montague's leadership.
Deputy Montague said: “I was sorry to learn of Jayne's decision because she has been a valued Member of our Committee.”
He recognised the importance of her contributions and stated his understanding of her circumstances. He confirmed that the committee will soon begin discussions with States Members to fill the vacant position.
The committee aims to elect a successor as soon as possible, ideally during the upcoming States meeting in late November or December.
Deputy Ozanne has confirmed that she will continue to serve as Vice-President on the Committee for Employment & Social Security, as well as on the Transport Licensing Authority.
