Dementia Friendly Guernsey has launched a free virtual tour of St Peter Port designed to help people living with dementia, older islanders, carers and families reconnect with cherished memories of the island's capital.

The online resource takes viewers on a journey through familiar locations including Castle Cornet, the Harbour, the Market, the Library, the Bathing Pools, Hauteville House and the Liberation Monument. Each section includes prompts, questions and activities designed to encourage conversation, reminiscence and social interaction.

The charity said the tour offers an accessible way for people to remain mentally active and socially connected during the winter months, when many spend more time indoors.

Julie Bulpitt, trustee and coordinator of Dementia Friendly Guernsey, said: "We are incredibly proud to launch this Virtual Tour of St Peter Port.

"As the days become shorter and many people find it more difficult to get out and about during the winter, it provides a wonderful opportunity to revisit familiar places, share stories and spark meaningful conversations."

Ms Bulpitt said reminiscence activities are widely recognised as beneficial for people living with dementia. "Seeing well-known locations can help stimulate memories, encourage communication, support cognitive activity and reduce feelings of isolation," she said.

She added: "However, the tour is not just for people with dementia. It can be enjoyed by families, care homes, community groups and anyone who would like to celebrate Guernsey's rich heritage and the memories associated with it.

"We hope it will bring enjoyment, stimulate conversation and help maintain social and cognitive engagement throughout the winter months and beyond."

The project builds on the success of the charity's popular tours on Twinkle, an old Grey bus, and reflects its ongoing commitment to developing innovative initiatives that improve quality of life for people living with dementia and promote inclusion across the Bailiwick.

The tour was produced in partnership with Warren Mauger of Spike Productions, who provided filming and production expertise, and Gill Girard, Guernsey's renowned gold accredited tour guide, whose local knowledge helped shape the content and storytelling.

Ms Bulpitt said: "We are enormously grateful to Warren and Gill for their commitment to this project.

"Their knowledge, creativity and passion for Guernsey have enabled us to create something that is both entertaining and meaningful. Together, we have produced a resource that preserves memories, encourages learning and helps people stay connected with their community."

The virtual tour can be viewed in one sitting or enjoyed in shorter sections, making it suitable for use in care settings, day centres, hospitals, community groups or at home with family and friends.

It is available free of charge on the [Dementia Friendly Guernsey website](https://www.dementiafriendly.org.gg/tour-of-st-peter-port/?ref=thequarry.media).
