Guernsey Museum has announced it will host an auction of images from the temporary exhibition titled 'Chris George: 50 Years of Faces’.
George has documented the essence of Guernsey through thousands of portraits, landscapes, and event photographs over the past fifty years.
The current exhibition features a curated selection of his favourite works, each accompanied by personal reflections.
The auction represents an opportunity for the public to acquire one of the portraits.
A full catalogue of the auctioned images can be accessed on the Guernsey Museum website. All proceeds from the event will go to Guernsey Motor Neurone.
The auction will commence on Thursday, 11 December 2025, at Guernsey Museum, Candie Gardens, from 17:15 to 19:30, with bidding starting at 18:00.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend, and those unable to be present in person can place pre-auction bids at the museum leading up to the event.
Susie Hunt from Guernsey Motor Neurone said: “Guernsey Motor Neurone exists to support and care for anyone living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, their families and carers.
"We are so incredibly grateful to Chris George for choosing our charity to benefit from the auction of his wonderful exhibition photographs.
"Every penny raised will help ease the pain and suffering of islanders with MND and we can’t thank him - and everyone involved in the auction - enough for their support.”
Helen Glencross, Head of Culture and Heritage Services, said: “The exhibition has been incredibly popular, and it’s been wonderful to celebrate Chris George’s remarkable contribution to Guernsey’s cultural life.
"We felt an auction was a fantastic way to utilise the exhibition prints while also raising money for Guernsey Motor Neurone. We are very grateful to Martel Maides Auctions and the Guernsey Press for their generous support in making this event possible.”
Interested parties may contact Guernsey Museum at Tel. 226518 or email museums@gov.gg for more information regarding the charity auction.
