Castle Cornet will host its annual Fete d’Etai on Sunday, 17 August, celebrating the castle's medieval heritage with a variety of activities from 10.00 to 17.00. This year’s event promises an exciting mix of children’s activities, live music, and living history.

The Jersey group The Duke’s Leopards will return to set up a small medieval camp, complete with a cooking area and games. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the recipes and ingredients used during the medieval period.

Children and families can participate in Knight School at 12.15 and 14.15, where they can demonstrate their skills in chivalry, bravery, and strength. A special quest inspired by Robin Hood will also be available, encouraging families to explore the castle and ‘steal’ coins from the ‘greedy king.’

Live action role play group Tol Galen will entertain audiences with sword fights and displays of medieval weapons and armour. In addition to these performances, arts and crafts activities will be offered, allowing visitors to learn to weave with willow artist Rae Bearder, try the ancient art of lucet, and create their own lavender bags.

New this year, a screening of the animated film ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ will take place on the Twilight Cinema big screen at 15.00. Admission is free for the film, and attendees are not required to make a booking.

Jo Dowding, Access & Learning Manager, stated, “Variety is the theme for this year’s Fete, where visitors can see medieval weapons smashing up melons, followed directly by a brilliant modern film about dragons. As with previous years, anyone attending the day in medieval dress will be admitted free of charge.”

Normal admission prices apply for Fete d’Etai: £12.00 for adults, £3 for children, and free entry for children under 7. Discovery Pass holders and accompanying children will also enjoy free entry.
