Careers Guernsey launches drop-in support service

Careers Guernsey has officially launched a drop-in careers support hub, providing free, impartial advice and guidance to individuals at any stage of their career development.
The hub will be open from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, at Footes Lane House, located on the Les Varendes High School site in the former sixth form centre building.
This initiative reflects Careers Guernsey's commitment to assisting individuals across the Bailiwick, including students and parents exploring subject choices and post-16 pathways, as well as adults considering retraining or returning to work after a break.
The service is also available for those seeking career changes to adapt to evolving family or lifestyle priorities.
Careers Guernsey, part of the Education Office, offers a range of services including tailored career guidance, information on local and off-island opportunities, learning options, and training pathways.
The expansion of the drop-in service aims to enhance accessibility, flexibility, and responsiveness to community needs, ensuring that career guidance is available to all ages.
Sarah Stonebridge, Head of Careers for Careers Guernsey, said: “Our support goes far beyond simply talking about jobs. Career guidance helps offer people new opportunities and inspiration and helps them make informed choices based on their individual needs.”
She emphasised the importance of career guidance and employability support in helping individuals progress in their careers, regardless of age or circumstances.
The launch of the drop-in service coincides with National Careers Week, a UK-wide initiative running from 2 to 7 March, promoting career development.
This year's theme, “Own Your Future,” encourages individuals to explore career opportunities and formulate practical directions for their professional aspirations.
In addition to supporting individuals, the careers hub invites businesses and employers to engage with them. They aim to understand workforce needs and support the development of local talent through work-related learning and experiences.
The Careers Guernsey drop-in service includes out-of-hours appointments and parking facilities.
