Details about how to take part in the by-election have been confirmed.

Islanders registered on the electoral roll for the last general election will be able to vote without taking any more action.

Anyone who has not yet registered or those who have become eligible to vote since the last year’s general election can register until 25th April.

Those wishing to cast their votes by post must apply through the electoral roll registration form by 10th April.

Applications for postal votes do not carry over from the previous election, everyone must reapply.

To register or apply for a postal vote, visit: https://soger.gov.gg/registration/

Nominations for candidates will be accepted from 9 am to 4:30 pm at the Royal Court from 23rd to 25th March.

The primary polling station for the by-election will be at Beau Sejour, with three additional polling stations at St Martin’s Parish Hall, Castel Douzaine Room, and Vale Douzaine Room.

Anyone on the roll can vote at any of the polling stations regardless of which parish they live in.

Candidates will have the opportunity to publish their manifestos on the election website, but no candidate manifesto booklet will be distributed for this election.

Colette Falla, Registrar General of Electors, said: “Following the States’ recent decision, we are now progressing plans to hold a by-election on 29th April for the vacant seat in the Assembly. We will provide regular updates in the lead up to the by-election and publish all relevant information at www.byelection2026.gg.

She added: “One of the key messages for the community is that if you are already registered on the electoral roll, as you signed up for the 2025 General Election, then you don’t need to do anything else in order to vote in the by-election.

“If you didn’t register on the roll for the General Election but want to register for the by-election, or you’ve become eligible, that’s absolutely fine and you just need to sign up which takes only a couple of minutes.

“All candidates will have the opportunity to publish their manifesto on the by-election website, and these will go live following the nomination period.”
