Newly released passenger figures from Brittany Ferries indicate strong growth in sea travel to and from Guernsey, with bookings for the 2026 season currently exceeding last year's numbers by 33%.

As of late January, 60,880 passengers had secured their travel arrangements between Guernsey, Poole, Portsmouth, and Saint Malo for journeys taking place up to 31 October 2026.

This is an increase from 45,713 bookings at the same point in 2025, reflecting sustained demand from both the UK and France.

The upward trend in passenger figures has been consistent since Brittany Ferries activated its contract with the States in April 2025.

Overall, passenger carryings to Guernsey in 2025 were up by a third compared to the previous year, demonstrating improvements in connectivity and rising consumer confidence.

Brittany Ferries has also expanded its market share for all sea travel to the Channel Islands from France and the UK, reaching 48% in December of the previous year.

Christophe Mathieu, Chief Executive of Brittany Ferries, commented on the results, stating, “I am delighted that the strong growth we achieved in our first year of operations is continuing into our second season.

“These excellent forward-booking figures reflect the effectiveness of our extensive marketing activity in both the UK and France during the quieter months and represent positive news for the tourism industry in the Bailiwick.

“They also demonstrate the growing appeal of Guernsey as a destination and the confidence passengers have in our services as we look ahead to 2026.”
