  • The IT helpdesk will assist staff with technology-related issues and improve self-service capabilities.
  • The initial contract is for two years, with an option to extend, costing approximately £750,000 annually.
  • States aims to reduce reliance on a single supplier for enhanced service and resilience.

The States has announced a new partnership with C5 Alliance, which will begin providing day-to-day IT support on 1st August.

This decision follows the termination of the existing contract with Agilisys and marks the implementation of a new multi-vendor model for IT services.

C5 Alliance will manage the States’ IT helpdesk, a support centre designed to assist staff with various technology-related issues. This facility serves as a point of contact for staff to report problems, seek assistance, or request services related to their computing and technology needs.

Located in Guernsey, C5 Alliance aims to enhance IT support through the use of advanced service desk technology. The initiative intends to give easier access to IT support for staff, encouraging a greater degree of self-service. This will be accomplished by providing clearer guidance on how to resolve common issues independently, thereby reducing the dependence on direct helpdesk interactions.

The contract with C5 Alliance is initially set for two years, with the possibility of a further two-year extension. The estimated budget for providing the IT helpdesk service is approximately £750,000 per year, catering to the needs of 5,500 staff within the States.

Gé Drossaert, Chief Digital and Information Officer for the States, said: “This is an excellent first step as we move towards our new multi-vendor model for the delivery of IT services. I am particularly pleased that we have been able to appoint an on-island provider who invests in Guernsey and believe this represents value for money.”

He expressed confidence in C5 Alliance's ability to provide a first-class service and pointed out the clear service level agreement that assures accountability and improves service quality.

Chris Ash, Managing Director for C5 Alliance in Guernsey, said: “We’re obviously delighted to have been appointed by the States of Guernsey to play our part in the multi-vendor model. It’s a strong endorsement of our capability to support enterprise-level clients with our managed services.”

The termination of the contract with Agilisys will be effective by midnight on 31st July.
