Richard Graham's latest collection of parliamentary sketches, You Couldn’t Make It Up Again!, is set for release on 19 November 2025.
This new publication follows his first collection, which debuted last Christmas.
The book features a mix of humorous political sketches and caricatures by Ross Le Brun.
Graham, a former States Deputy, has stated that his intentions for the sketches are to offer gentle critiques while also providing entertainment.
He mentions in his introduction: "As a former States Deputy, I know at first hand that governing our island wisely is no easy matter; hence my sketches seek to soften deserved criticism with generous dollops of gentle, sometimes mischievous, leg-pulling. If I manage to make some serious points whilst bringing a smile or two along the way, then my mission is accomplished."
The book gathers sketches from the last ten States Meetings of the previous Assembly, leading up to the General Election held in June 2024, alongside four subsequent meetings from the newly elected Assembly.
Ross Le Brun has provided a brand new set of caricatures for this edition, continuing his collaboration with Graham.
Le Brun said: "I’m proud to be asked to illustrate Richard’s latest satirical look at a year of States debates — using my caricatures to highlight the dafter side of Guernsey's politics and remind our people’s deputies that we can actually hear what they say."
Proceeds from the sales will be directed to the Guernsey Motor Neurone charity.
Susie Hunt, representing the charity, said: "We are so touched to be nominated as beneficiaries of this fantastic little book - a really wonderful view of island life accompanied by incredible illustrations. It would make the perfect stocking filler and we are so grateful to Richard Graham and the Blue Ormer team for supporting us."
The book will be available in several local outlets including The Lexicon, Writer’s Block, Guernsey Museum, and online at blueormer.gg.
Furthermore, a selection of six caricatures from the book will be reproduced as greetings cards for sale.
